How to Clean a Stinky Garbage Disposal
Garbage disposals are a great tool for your kitchen. However, if you have one, you know that sometimes it can really smell – awful! It stands to reason that it would as over time food particles would remain in and around the disposal and give off an odor. In this video, we’ll show you a quick DIY fix for this pesky problem.
How to clean a stinky garbage disposal:
- Safety first – make sure the disposal is off before you start this project
- Run the sink faucet with some hot water
- Take some dish detergent, maybe even one with a nice citrus scent, and apply to a standard issue toilet brush
- Take the toilet brush and while pushing down into the disposal, twist it to create a nice soapy foam
- Run the water and turn on the disposal until all the soap is gone
It’s a relatively easy process, so if that disposal starts to smell again, just repeat this process throughout the year to keep things smelling fresh.
