How to Get Paint Off Glass

There’s nothing more frustrating than getting paint on glass during your painting project.  It could be anything from a window to a mirror.  Whether it’s only a few drops or quite the spray, it’s just unsightly!  In this video from our “Fix It in 15:00” series, Lou shows you the simplest way to deal with this simple problem.

The key to figuring out how to get paint off glass is in the tool you use, most specifically a razor blade.  Here are the simple steps to remove paint from glass:

  • Use a new razor, possibly a utility-style that’s a bit longer so you can really get a good grip
  • Wear gloves in the event the razor slips and you’re concerned about getting cut
  • Be careful when scraping with the razor… you don’t want to push too far and damage your nice new paint job on the surrounding area
  • Apply some good pressure, but don’t press too hard to avoid shattering the glass

Depending on the extent of the paint on the glass, you may need multiple razors, but most likely one should do the trick.  Then just wipe away the paint you scraped and clean the glass so it’s sparkly again.
