How to Replace a Storm Door Closer

We call this series “Fix It in 15:00”, but you’re going to find that sometimes the projects actually take less time.  If you have a storm door, you may have noticed it doesn’t operate like it used to.  After all, this would be considered a “high touch” element to your home, so it stands to reason that your storm door (or screen door depending on the season) would need some maintenance along the way.  Fortunately, this is a relatively quick fix.

Here’s how to replace a storm door closer:

  • Measure your current air pressure door closer
  • Visit your local hardware store and purchase a replacement
  • You should be able to use the existing brackets on the storm door, but if not, the kit comes with new brackets
  • Remove the old door closer by removing the pins that hold it in
  • Tighten the brackets while you’re at it
  • Slide the new door closer in place and insert the pins to hold in place

See?  We told you it would take less than 15:00!
