How to Clean Stone Countertops

Stone countertops have a lasting appeal.  They’re durable and look fantastic!  However, there are certain steps you should take to maintain your stone countertops.  In this video, we’ll learn about a three-step process to keep those stone countertops looking great.

Granite is a natural stone, which is part of its charm… no two slabs of granite are the same.  And just as particular granite is, so too is the process for keeping granite countertops in great condition.  Rather than use an everyday cleaning product, you’re going to want to use a pH neutral solution that’s specifically designed for maintenance on natural stone applications.

Here’s a three-stop process for cleaning stone countertops that uses the Granite Gold line of products:

  1. CLEAN – using Granite Gold Daily Cleaner, remove any debris, grease, etc. from the countertop with a microfiber cloth.
  2. SEAL – remember, granite is a natural stone that’s porous.  Apply Granite Gold Sealer to protect the clean surface – one way to test the seal in time is to conduct the “water test” whereby you’ll be able to see if a small amount of water starts to penetrate the stone within about thirty minutes time.
  3. POLISH – Once dry, just spray & wipe, again with a microfiber cloth to keep things looking fresh and help the stone resist fingerprints and water spots.
